Qualifier Form

This is a list of questions we use to get a company’s score. Fill out the form and it will be entered into our CRM software. This score will help the sales people sort which companies warrant the extra attention of a follow up.

  • #1 Does the site appear to have a good design? Does it look outdated?

    • 1 = a great looking site
    • 2 = an okay design
    • 3 = an ugly website that brings tears to your eyes

  • #2 Is the site Mobile Responsive?

    • Grab the browser window and shrink / expand it.
    • If the site collapses and expands as you do this, it is responsive.
    • If the site does not change shape or sizes, and appears to get “cut off” in a smaller window, it is not responsive. 
    • 1 = a fully responsive design
    • 2 = a site with some basic collapsing, but might have issues such as images pushing off the side of the screen, or some items collapsing in a broken manner
    • 3 = a site that does not collapse at all

  • #3 Does the site have an outdated trademark in the footer?

    • 1 = an up to date trademark
    • 2 = no trademark
    • 3 = an out of date trademark

  • #4 Does the site appear to have been built in a CMS?

    • Add “/wp-login.php” to the end of the domain name and hit return, if it takes you to a login box, this is a Wordpress site.
    • Add “/admin” to the end of the domain name and hit return to see if a login box shows.
    • If neither of these things brings back a page, the site may not be a CMS
    • 1 = for sites that do show a CMS
    • 2 = if you are not certain but it looks like its dynamic in some fashion
    • 3 = a site that clearly has no CMS

  • #5 Does the site have a Blog / News page?

    • If so, is it being updated?  Are there many posts, or recent posts?
    • 1 = for sites with an active blog with several posts a month
    • 2 = for a site that has a blog but has not been often, 1 or less posts a month
    • 3 = for sites that have no blog or news area

  • #6 Does the site appear to be continually updated?

    • Look for an ad slider on the homepage with ads that appear to be time sensitive “Sale this month!”
    • Does the site appear to have a great deal of pages?
    • Do those pages have a lot of content or a bare minimum?
    • 1 = for sites with a lot of content and clearly updated info
    • 2 = for a site that does appear to get updates, but not often
    • 3 = for sites that appear to have had no updates in a while

  • #7 Does the site appear to be a 2nd / 3rd generation site?

    • Something built on a free platform will note it in the footer.  We want to avoid these.
    • A site that appears to be more polished but does not have a huge amount of features has likely been remade in some fashion.
    • A site that is responsive is likely not a first generation site.
    • 1 = if the site is obviously a free site like squarespace, wix or godaddy
    • 2 = a site that isn’t free, but only has basic content and no interaction
    • 3 = a site that has clearly has some work put into it

  • #8 Does the site have a contact page?

    • 1 = good contact page with several options / form / social links
    • 2 = has a contact page, but with no form / phone / email / social links
    • 3 = No apparent way to contact, or very hard to find

  • #9 Does the site have a generic email address on the contact page? Like thisbusiness@hotmail.com

    • 1 = a contact email that is based off the sites URL like me@thissite.com
    • 2 = a generic email like Hotmail, Yahoo or Gmail
    • 3 = no email address

  • #10 Is the site a Static Brochure Site, or a Functional Tool?

    • A Static Site is simply about the company.  Who we are, List of Services, Contact page, etc.
    • A Functional Tool will have things that encourage a user to take action.  “Click here to download something”, Pop Up boxes for Newsletter signup, An Active Blog are some examples.
    • 1 = the site addresses the visitors problem from the get go and offers a solution.  Drives people to take action “Click here now!” etc.
    • 2 = the site appears to start to talk to their customer, but no clear calls to action
    • 3 = an “Online Brochure”  No content beyond “About Page”, “Services List”, “Basic Contact Page” and little more.

  • #11 Does the site link to any social networks? Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, etc.

    • 1 = for sites with clear social links and share buttons on the sites pages
    • 2 = for basic social links or hard to locate links like only on the contact page and not in the header
    • 3 = for sites with no social tie in at all

  • #12 If the site links to Social Networks, do those networks appear to have content being uploaded on a regular basis?

    • 1 = good social network with many posts
    • 2 = has social links, but those networks don’t appear to be updated often with new content
    • 3 = a site with no apparent social links at all

  • #1 Does the site ask you to sign up for a newsletter?

    • 1 = Yes, there is a pop up either on the homepage or after clicking around
    • 2 = There is a link to do so but no prompt or call to action
    • 3 = There does not appear to be a newsletter

  • #2 Do they have an ad loader (slider) on the homepage with fresh content?

    • 1 = Yes there is a loader and it appears to have been updated recently.  Look for date sensitive stuff and “recent products”
    • 2 = There is a loader, but the ads are not good or do not appear to have been changed recently.
    • 3 = There is no ad loader on the homepage

  • #3 Are there ads in the sidebar of sub pages / product pages?

    • 1 = Yes there is a loader in the sidebar with multiple ads
    • 2 = There are static ads that don’t appear to be updated often
    • 3 = There are no ads in these areas

  • #4 Do product pages have unique or generic content?

    • 1 = Product Pages have unique content that appears to be well thought out
    • 2 = Product Pages have a minimal amount of content, or generic content
    • 3 = There are not much information on the product pages

  • #5 Is there an option in checkout for a coupon code?

    • 1 = Yes there is a coupon / discount code box on the checkout page
    • 2 = Yes there is a coupon / discount code box, but it's hard to find / use
    • 3 = The site has no coupon code capability during checkout

  • #6 Is the site secure,  does it have HTTPs?

    • 1 = The site has an HTTPs address and Security Software like Sucurri or Nortons
    • 2 = The site has one or the other, either Security Software or an HTTPs address
    • 3 = No security software or HTTPs address

  • #7 Do products appear as children of a category or are they all lumped into a mass list outside of parent categories?
    You can see this in the URL of a product page.  Example:  www.site.com/category/product-page

    • 1 = Yes the products are children of categories and the site has breadcrumbs
    • 2 = Site has either breadcrumbs or categories in the URLs of product pages
    • 3 = The site has no categories or breadcrumbs

  • #8 Are there ads in the sidebar of sub pages / product pages?

    • 1 = Yes there is a loader in the sidebar with multiple ads
    • 2 = There are static ads that don’t appear to be updated often
    • 3 = There are no ads in these areas

#1 = 12 – 17 = Good Web Presence : Good

#1 = These guys are doing it right and clearly have a functional website.

#2 = 18-28 = Sweet Spot : Best

#2 = These guys have taken some steps but there is clearly more they could be doing.

#3 = 29+ = Bad Website : Better

#3 = These guys are doing just about everything they could be doing wrong on the web.

#2 = 13-19 = Sweet Spot : Best
